Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
- Location: Hybrid, 2 days in the Stirling office
- Salary: £62,000 to £67,000 per annum, FTE.
- Pension: employer contribution of up to 12%, plus 6% employee contribution. Taken together with salary, this is a total reward package worth approximately £69,400 to £75,000.
- Standard hours: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend working will be required, for which time off in lieu is given.
- Annual leave: 28 days per year, FTE, plus six fixed bank holidays.
- Time off in lieu when required to work outside normal working hours.
- Flexible working: permanent full-time role, with openness to discussing/agreeing, compressed hours or other flexible arrangements for the right candidate. Salary and leave are pro-rated for part-time appointments.
- Hybrid working: minimum equivalent of two days each week in the Stirling office or travelling to meet stakeholders.

The opportunity and the challenge
This is an opportunity to lead a respected national membership organisation at a significant time for Scotland’s circular economy. The next CEO will help Circular Communities Scotland strengthen its member voice, build sustainable income, deepen strategic partnerships and represent the practical contribution of reuse, repair, recycling and community-led action to national environmental and social outcomes.
The role also carries a clear challenge. Circular Communities Scotland operates in a changing funding, policy and delivery environment. The successful candidate will need to balance ambition with financial sustainability, support a committed team, maintain excellent governance, and ensure members continue to see tangible value from Circular Communities Scotland‘s advocacy, services and relationships.
Purpose of the role
To provide inspirational and strategic leadership for Scotland’s national membership body supporting the reuse, repair and recycling sector, driving organisational growth, policy influence, member value and long-term sustainability.
We are seeking a values-led leader with a passion for social and environmental impact. The successful candidate will be an accomplished relationship builder, skilled advocate and proven organisational leader who can strengthen Circular Communities Scotland‘s influence, grow its impact, support its members and guide the organisation through its next phase of development.
About you
You will bring credible senior leadership experience and the ability to work confidently with a Board, staff, members, funders and public-sector stakeholders. You do not need to have spent your whole career in the circular economy, but you must be committed to Circular Communities Scotland‘s purpose and able to get to grips quickly with Scotland’s waste, resources and circular economy policy environment.
- Strategic and financially literate, with experience of business planning, income generation and funding relationships.
- A credible communicator and advocate, able to influence a wide range of audiences and represent members externally.
- Collaborative and values-led, with experience of leading teams, supporting staff development and leading change.
- Comfortable working in a member-led environment, with a strong understanding of governance, accountability and risk.
