An Exciting Opportunity to Lead in our Sector.
We are recruiting for new Board Members at Circular Communities Scotland. If you are from our membership and feel you could help bring strategic leadership to Scotland’s national reuse, repair, and recycling charity, we’d love to hear from you.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for board members that reflect and are chosen from our membership that can add specific experience to our governance.
Primarily we are looking for board members who can represent the Circular Communities Scotland membership. That’s 259 repair, reuse and recycling charities and social enterprises across the country. Our members prevent valuable products and materials from ending up in landfill, create local jobs, economic opportunities, and help promote and create social and environmental justice in their communities. To represent our membership at board level means you need to work for one of our members or alternatively you may be on the board of one of our members. It also means that you can consider the needs of the wider sector too.
We are specifically looking for applicants who can help us drive forward our Strategic Plan. We would particularly welcome Board Members who can help:
- Represent key areas of our membership
- Support us in driving forward equality, diversity and inclusion
- Support us to build stronger partnerships
At Circular Communities Scotland we seek to support and represent the sector and our Board are central to that. Practically, this means you are willing to put the time in to serve on our Board. We normally meet once every quarter for a board meeting and this is normally conducted online. One of these meetings may be replaced by a Strategy Day, which usually take place in-person in Stirling. We also have various board papers and reports which need to be engaged with before and between meetings. Lastly, we do have ad hoc sub-groups to take forward specific topics and a willingness to support these as appropriate is also required.
Circular Communities Scotland are fully committed to seeking diversity (in all its forms) on our board since we know this enriches the organisation. We would therefore strongly encourage candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds to apply, as we wish to reflect the society we live in and the community that we serve.
Benefits of being on the Circular Communities Scotland Board
You would be joining a strong and effective board. Our current directors are a great team, and our board meetings are well run and good fun!
As well as serving Circular Communities Scotland, you would also gain valuable experience of the wider reuse, repair and recycling sector and add new skills to use in other parts of your career.
As is normal for charities in Scotland this is a voluntary (i.e. unpaid) position but we are able to reimburse reasonable expenses.
