Circular Communities Scotland will undergo a planned transition of leadership from September 2nd to 16th 2024, as Interim CEO Laura Alcock-Ferguson hands over to returning CEO Michael Cook.

Michael has been on sabbatical from January 2024 and is excited to return to his position to continue to lead Circular Communities Scotland’s in its growth and in support of our members.

“It is a privilege to be returning to Circular Communities Scotland to take up again the role of CEO. I am very grateful to Laura, and the staff and board, for all they have done whilst I have been on my career break.

Over the next few months we have some significant events including our AGM, our Annual Conference and Regional Forums and I hope to see many of you at these. Over the coming months we will also be working on our new Strategic Plan.

Looking ahead there is a lot to do but I am excited to be playing my part in the next chapter of Circular Communities Scotland. I am so looking forward to working with the Board, Staff, Members, Funders and wider stakeholders going forward.”

-Michael Cook, CEO, Circular Communities Scotland

The Circular Communities Scotland team and board would like to warmly welcome back Michael and extend our heartfelt thanks to Laura for her inspiring leadership during her time as Interim CEO.

Laura’s guidance has been instrumental in maintaining the momentum of our initiatives, as well as bringing new opportunities and thinking to our organisation, members and team.

“It has been a pleasure to contribute my skills and experience for eight months as Interim CEO of Circular Communities Scotland. One of my highlights was meeting many of our members during my time here and I’ve always been inspired by their innovation, passion and sheer graft. I’ve learned from and enjoyed the collaborative spirit of our partners and funders, particularly with the opportunity of influencing the Circular Economy Bill as it was passed into law. Finally, it’s been a real joy working with the board and team who have shared their energy and passion for our sector and vision for where it will go next. Thank you all for making me feel so welcome. I will maintain a strong connection with you all, not least in my own continued reuse, repair and sharing choices!”
